The Morris Arboretum is always a beautiful spot to visit in the fall as its many trees’ leaves change from green to vibrant shades of orange, yellow, and red. But there’s an extra reason to visit this month: the 12th Annual Scarecrow Walk & Design Contest.

Now through Halloween, the paths of the Morris Arboretum are lined with scarecrows crafted by people in the community. This year, the novice artists will create their scarecrows in keeping with the theme of “Famous Musicians,” so you might see a few straw-stuffed faces that you recognized. As you meander the paved trails at the Morris Arboretum, make note of your favorite creations. Because before you leave, you’ll be asked to vote for your favorite—and the winners receive a cash prize or a gift certificate.
