If you're interested in learning more about cinema as a hobby or an academic pursuit, check out Bryn Mawr Film Institute. Located near Radwyn Apartments on the Main Line, this unique not-for-profit theater was established by members of the community in 2002 not to rake in dollars, but to educate the public about the art of cinema.
To that end, the theater hosts everything from screenings to lectures. Its screens often show gripping documentaries, thoughtful art-house films, and foreign pieces you won't be able to watch at the traditional megaplex. Sometimes it even plays classic films such as Caddyshack and West Side Story. For those truly interested in delving deeper into the world of film, however, Bryn Mawr Film Institute's lectures and events might be more your speed. The educational programs focus on various aspects of filmmaking, from technique to production, and the institute usually offers about 15 per year.
