Movie buffs of all kinds will appreciate what the Bryn Mawr Film Institute has to offer. Featuring artistically and culturally important films from all eras, this Lancaster Avenue theater is a gem of the local arts community.
BMFI seeks to build “community through film culture.” As such, the programming here is more than just entertaining. Visitors can enjoy a number of seminars and other educational courses, some of which focus on one specific film, while others turn attention to specific genres, eras, or filmmakers or the mechanics of filmmaking. Special events like film discussions, staged performance screenings, and screenings for parents with small children set this theater apart from others in the area. Tickets range from $9 to $20, depending upon what you attend. BMFI members receive discounts on tickets as well as invitations to early screenings and other events.
