If you’ve never seen the Thousand Bloom Mum, it’s time to pencil in a visit to the Longwood Gardens Chrysanthemum Festival this year. "Thousand Bloom Mum" doesn’t really do the plant justice, since its single stem actually holds more than 1,500 flowers. The blooms fan out into a half-sphere shape, and they stun onlookers from October 25th to November 18th, when the Chrysanthemum Festival runs.
The Thousand Bloom Mum only hosts a small portion of the 17,000-plus chrysanthemums on display during the festival. The floral artists at Longwood Gardens mold the others into stunning masterpieces, like spirals, pagodas, and columns. This year, they’ll debut mums shaped into a fan for the first time. Come to explore the gardens this fall and enjoy the Chrysanthemum Festival, which is included with your general admission fee.
